Matt Patterson  - a counsellor with a soulful approach

I trained with Re-Vision, using a soulful approach. This way of working is not affiliated to any particular religion. Rather it understands that in order to be a healthy human being we need to think of ourselves as more than just productive members of society. We are soulful beings with deep, complex and often contradictory wants and needs. To stay healthy, we must care for our souls.

Having trained in open-ended therapy, I can allow our work together to be dictated by your circumstances. Together we can take the time needed to work with whatever you bring, be that from your present or past, allowing us to see your future more clearly.

I believe that allowing space can support us to fully understand the issues that are holding you back or causing you suffering. To fully care for the soul, the key to a healthier life

Access to and deeper understanding of the unconscious are key to this process. Image, myth, dreams, imagination and the use of archetypes are all ways of connecting with the unconscious and so will form a part of our work together. This will allow us to tap into your own inner resources to find the wisdom that already lies within you. To help you find a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in life.

I offer over 15 years’ experience of practising and teaching mindfulness and compassion-based meditation techniques. Where appropriate, I use these within my work to help foster a sense of inner calm and to help create conditions for growth and stability.

What people are saying

"Matthew was incredibly professional and decent, and clearly was well-versed in a variety of different ways with which to explore any number of issues, and worked hard to make sure that I was always comfortable, and getting something from the sessions that we regularly had. He achieved a high level of consistency and care for his work which made it easy to open up. I'm in a better place now than before I met him”.

Richard

"I am thankful to Matt for providing a safe, calm and welcoming space during our sessions where I could speak openly and honestly. I especially benefited from having the opportunity to share the impact of my previous job which often left me feeling emotionally drained.  Matt also encouraged me to learn to communicate more effectively with others and to appreciate that my feelings and emotions matter. I would most definitely recommend Matt to others."

Natalie

"Who was I? Who am I? was my true quest.
YOU helped me to delve into that nest.
As by then, you were no guest.
My attentive listener, MY trusted,
YOU served ME well and will do so with others."
